*How To Reduce Stress* Creating a safe space

When I meet children and adults I hear how busy their lives are. This is ok, but when you experience uncomfortable emotions you need a space where you can call your own or a place specifically created to 'feel safe' another word even 'Time out'.

A space created that can allow you the freedom to create and release emotions through creative projects. Your space doesn't have to be huge. You can even covert a corner of your room into your creative space

How will this help you:

1. You won't stress when you have to pack away the activity as you can leave it out

2. You can go to this place, create and not stress about getting the rest of the house dirty

3. Setting up a visual creative space gives you inspiration to come home and start the activity without delays or procrastination from yourself

What to have in your space:

1. A table to create activites

2. Shelf for books (this can even be put on the wall)

3. An organiser - to put all your art materials inside

4. visual images and colour (so that you remain inspired and at peace)

5. Music (relaxing music to calm you down)

6.Water feature (to help your brain remember information)

7. Cushions and blanket (To wrap around yourself when you want to just sit in the room)

8. Tools for painting/creating

9. Lighting (the perfect lighting for your eyes to create)

10. Warmth (either a heater to keep warm when you create)

If you are worried about sharp items - make sure to store this away out of reach. The goal of this area is for you to not feel controlled or told how things should be created. This space should be a place to create, explore and experiment. It doesn't have to be expensive, you can go to boot sales, markets, or recycled places to create your space.
